We are recruiting a PhD candidate to investigate human interaction with automated driving in cars and trucks.
The research will focus on the Transition of Control in automated driving and on differences between drivers in their response to take over control and response to unexpected situations. Focus is on prediction when the driver is ready to take back control, with a link to situational awareness.
The position is offered by the University of Twente in collaboration with the research institute TNO.
1. You have a MSc degree in behavioural sciences, human factors or an engineering discipline related to cognitive sciences, human factors, ergonomics, automotive technology, human-computer interaction, or artificial intelligence. Candidates with an interest and experience in traffic modelling can also apply. The candidate should have affinity with experimental studies and statistical analyses.
2. You are in the first 4 years of your research career (measured from the date when you obtained the MSc degree).
3. You are required to undertake transnational (i.e., move from one country to another) mobility (3 to 4 secondments of 2 to 3 months each, as well as workshops at universities)
4. You must not have resided or carried out your main activity (work, studies) in the Netherlands for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to recruitment under the project.
